Do you suffer from a bad case of wanderlust? Are you itching to share your travel stories with more than just your diary? Are you trying to build a career as a travel writer? This course offers an overview of the fundamentals of travel writing. We welcome beginning writers as well as anyone with experience who is interested in refining his or her craft. We’ll cover topics on form and technique, alongside practical details on how to develop a career as a travel writer. Interactive activities and writing exercises form the basis of the course and create a fun and intimate environment. In addition to published work, we’ll learn from the writing you and your peers produce in class. Don’t worry if you’re shy—sharing is optional.

Ellen Keith is currently working on her MFA in Creative Writing through the University of British Columbia.  Her work has appeared in publications such as The New Quarterly, The Globe and Mail, Travel Origins Magazine, The Matador Network, and at TravelandEscape.ca.  She has received the Anton Fiction Prize and the James Patrick Folinsbee Prize in Creative Writing, and was shortlisted for the World Nomads Travel Writing Scholarship.
