Do you know your mother’s story? Where she was born? How she met your father? Do you remember stories about her life?

When you write down the facts you know of your mother’s life you not only develop writing skills but also have a document of family history you can share with friends and family. It’s also a great tool for getting through writer’s block. This two hour writing workshop will give you the basics on how to get yourself out of the way and allow your mother’s story to unfold in a coherent and entertaining way.

Marilyn Norry works in Vancouver as an actor in plays and movies (Exorcism of Emily Rose, Battlestar Galactica), as well as a story editor and dramaturg (editor of plays). She created My Mother’s Story and the non-profit Mothership Stories Society to gather and share family stories. They have produced nine different shows telling women’s history and have published two anthologies, as well as many workshops. She lives in New Westminster with her husband artist Greg Freedman.
